The only thing required is enthusiasm and interest in the game!

House League - Spring 2027

2026/27 House League Age Matrix

Want to see how players are grouped by birth year and month for the 2026/27 season?

View the 2026/27 House League Age Matrix

This age matrix is provided by the New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA) and outlines the seasonal age groupings used for youth soccer.

TEAMS

Our House League is designed using a two-year combined age grouping, such as 8U, 10U, etc.  Players are eligible for age brackets based on the Age Matrix that is based on the New USYS Age Matrix (School Year Aug. 1 – July 31.), provided by USYS and the New York State West Youth Soccer Association. In the House League, players are required to play within their Age Matrix. Players new to ASA may be asked to provide proof of age upon registration.

Once Registration has closed, our volunteer coordinators work arduously and efficiently to form teams. Due to the time frame and complexity of managing a substantial number of players, it is difficult to honor requests for players to be on the same team. Siblings who are in the same age matrix will be placed on the same team. If a parent volunteers to coach one of the teams, they may request one additional player for their respective team.

EQUIPMENT

All players will be required to purchase an Amherst Soccer Association House uniform kit. Current uniforms will be in use through June 2026.  Uniform kits can be ordered during registration under the Features section. The uniform kit is $60 and includes a red Adidas jersey, white Adidas jersey, Adidas shorts and Adidas socks.

Additionally, all players must wear age appropriate shin guards under their soccer socks, the appropriate soccer shoes (turf or cleats outdoors; flats or turf indoors), bring their own soccer ball (#3 for ages 5-8, #4 for ages 10-12, #5 for ages 13+) and bring water to every practice and game.

PLAY

Eight games are played throughout each session on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday due to holidays, etc. at various locations throughout the Town of Amherst. Game times vary week-to-week between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m and grouped by age bracket. Games are approximately 1 hour in length (2 x 25 minute halves).  The schedule will be available and posted ahead of each session.

If a game day is rescheduled due to inclement weather, we will notify all participants via email and post online. Games may be rescheduled at a later day or on a non-typical play day, such as Sunday or weekday. We do not cancel games due to rain.

RULES OF PLAY

Amherst Soccer Association has adopted the FIFA Laws of the Game for our House Leagues. For more details, please see the attachment below:

We offer practice plans, practice and game tips, as well as 1-on-1 support if needed. We will provide equipment, practice plans, game tips, as well as 1-on-1 support if needed.
