Amherst Soccer Association – 2022-2023 Indoor House League Rules

Absolutely no jewelry including earrings, studs/new piercings

WATER ONLY allowed on the surface, no snacks, no food

No outdoor cleats – indoor soccer shoes and sneakers only.

Games must begin on time.  If you take time to run a warm-up, your game will be cut short in order to allow the next game to begin on-time.  Coaches, parents and referees need to be aware of this to ensure the day runs smoothly and games are concluded on-time.

All players should be receiving equal playing time.  You do not need to keep a stopwatch, but be aware that parents and players notice when equal time is not afforded.

Birth Year 2015-2016 – 8U Rules and Procedures – NARC – Using small goals

1. 4 v 4 with NO Goalkeepers.  Please encourage the children to play in a square shape- everyone attacks, everyone defends.

2. Players can substitute on any stoppage. 

3. Do not instruct a player to stand in front of the goal and not move.

4. All restarts are played as kick-ins, no throws.

5. Corner kicks allowed

6. Goal kicks - place ball 3 large steps out from goal, have player take run at ball to kick.  Opposing team must retreat to midfield.

7. No scores or standings are kept

8. Encourage playing all positions

9. If you do not have enough players, borrow from the other team

10. Games are 25 minutes running time

11. A Goal may only be scored from a team’s offensive half of the field.

12. If 4 teams in the age group are scheduled at the same time, 2 games will be played per session – White jerseys will switch fields i.e. White from Field 1 moves to Field 3, white from Field 3 moves to Field 1 after first 25 minute game.

13. If only 2 teams in the age group are scheduled at the same time, the teams will play 2, 25 minute games against each other.

Birth Year 2011-2012 & 2013-2014 10U & 12U Rules – NARC – Using larger goals

1. 4 v 4 plus Goalkeeper (total 5 v 5)

2. Players can substitute on any stoppage. 

3. Offside rules apply

4. No goalkeeper punts, ball must stay below head height, otherwise possession and a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team – Ball should not be rolled or thrown past midfield by goalkeeper.

5. No Throw-ins from the sidelines. Kick-in only

6. On free kicks and corners the opposing team must be minimum of 5 yards away from the ball.  On goal kicks, retreat to midfield

7. No slide tackles, players must not go to ground to steal possession back

8. No scores or standings are kept

9. Encourage playing all positions including goalkeeper

10. If you do not have enough players, borrow from the other team

11. Games will consist of 2, 25-minute halves and a 5-minute halftime

12. A Goal may only be scored from a team’s offensive half of the field.

Birth Year 2009-2010 14U COED Rules – Village Glen – Using small goals OR large kickback goals

1. Coaches have option to play 6 v 6 with NO Goalkeeper and small goals OR 5 v 5 plus Goalkeeper (total 6 v 6) and larger goals. May play 5 v 5 if coaches agree or 4 v 4 if attendance is low.

2. Players can substitute on any stoppage.

3. Offside rules apply.
